The signal that this domain fits: a recurring piece of work moves through similar steps, handoffs, reviews or approvals every time, and you can name where the delays and rework happen.

Basic digital fluency. No coding, no technical AI background, no prior AI experience.

Access to at least one suitable generative-AI tool — a free plan is often enough — and genuine work you are accountable for. Employed, consulting, freelance, entrepreneurial and nonprofit work all qualify; a fictional case study does not.

Before this domain begins you must have completed the free nine-question Diagnostic and passed the mandatory Foundation — a one-hour live online session at a scheduled time, normally one to two days before your first domain. Foundation carries a two-part assessment that must be passed before any capstone is accepted.

This domain is not a standalone entry point. If you have not yet earned CAIDA, your route in is Foundation plus two domains. Individual domains are available once you hold the credential or are already progressing toward it.

Unique Value Proposition

Every domain teaches the same eight Direction Abilities. What differs is how the work goes wrong.

Workflow fails in a specific way: waste automated rather than removed — a step that should have been eliminated made faster instead. Its close relatives are a workflow that holds until the first exception with no fallback or escalation, savings claimed in production while review and rework go unmeasured, a system only its author can run, and a redesign of the process the participant imagined rather than the one that actually occurs.

This is the only domain whose capstone requires a measured before-and-after, because it is the only one where the improvement can silently reverse. The ability is the same as elsewhere; the way of being wrong is not. That is why the credential requires two domains.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this domain you can:

• Select which recurring work deserves a system, and recognise what should simply be eliminated
• Map a process as it actually runs rather than as it is described
• Divide work between human and AI with explicit approval and escalation points
• Build routines that handle exceptions, not just the happy path
• Measure the full effort including review, correction and rework
• Assign ownership, versioning and review triggers so a system outlives your attention
• Capture the workflow as a reusable Skill another person can operate

Capstone: redesign one real recurring workflow end to end and run it in practice — baseline established, human-AI roles defined, normal and exception cases tested, before-and-after measured, sustainable ownership assigned, and the system captured as a reusable Skill. Assessed on all eight Direction Abilities against a four-level scale; every ability must reach at least Demonstrated.

You apply the governing sequence — eliminate or simplify first, redesign second, divide human-AI work third, orchestrate only what remains — so you never automate waste. You map the workflow that actually occurs, including the handoffs, waits, rework and exceptions where value leaks.

Then you decide deliberately what AI may draft, classify or monitor and what humans must decide, approve and own, with confidential information protected by design. You build routines that survive the real world: missing inputs, urgent cases, approval delays, escalations and manual fallback. You measure total effort, quality and adoption — not minutes alone — and assign ownership so the gains sustain.

This domain does not issue a certificate of its own. There are no module badges and no sub-certificates.

A demonstrated capstone here is added to your Certificate in AI Direction and Application under the same permanent credential ID, with earlier achievements intact, and appears on your public verification record as a demonstrated domain. Demonstrating all six adds the CAIDA Complete – All Six Domains Demonstrated distinction.

If you have not yet earned CAIDA, this domain counts as one of the two required for the credential.

Limited to 20 participants per domain batch. Every capstone is pre-evaluated offline by your trainer before Week 4 and confirmed in a mandatory live viva, with deeper examination scheduled into overflow slots rather than compressed into the session.

Batch dates follow the published CAIDA calendar. Domains in high demand normally begin on the first weekend of each month; the rest follow a rotating schedule with at least one planned batch opportunity each quarter. Contact us for the next available date in this domain.
